New to the SCA?

Here are some things you’ll need to know about attending Wars of the Roses:
What do I wear?
- We ask that you make a reasonable attempt to dress in something from pre-17th century (think Elizabethan England and earlier).
- If you don’t have a thing to wear, worry not! We have a collection of well-maintained clothing, called Gold Key, that is specifically for people to borrow.
is there food?
- Most camping events don’t have food concessions on site…but we do! Check our Merchants Row page for our list of vendors.
- There’s also a grocery store and a Stewarts convenience store within walking distance of the site.
What do i need to Camp?
- If you want to camp, both modern camping equipment and historically-accurate equipment are welcome. Many campers do have period replica tents and such but we’re not a “must do everything the old way” reenactment group.
- Do be aware that the weather in May in upstate NY can range from freezing cold to blistering hot and plan accordingly.
Who can I talk to?
- Concordia’s Chatelaine, the Newcomer Contact and Keeper of the Gold Key, is a great resource for any additional questions!
- Also, join the conversation on Concordia’s Facebook Group or Discord Server.
We want you to have a wonderful experience! The best way for us to help you is to tell us it’s your first event. We’re a very friendly group of people and we want you to have a wonderful experience!
